Why Coconut?

Coconuts are one of the most versatile and economically valuable crops in the world. For centuries, they have supported food systems, manufacturing industries, and global trade across tropical regions.

Today, demand for coconut-based products continues to grow rapidly across sectors such as food, health, cosmetics, and industrial manufacturing.

Cocovest focuses on coconut cultivation because it represents a long-term agricultural asset with strong global demand and environmental resilience.

Coconut trees are known for their longevity. Once mature, a healthy coconut tree can remain productive for several decades, producing coconuts annually. This long productive lifespan allows coconut plantations to serve as generational agricultural assets.

The Coconut Ecosystem

One coconut can create over 200 commercial products. Instead of only selling raw coconuts, Cocovest is building around four major value layers.

1. Plantation Layer

This is the current stage. Cocovest develops large coconut estates like Cocovilla Estates in Badagry, Lagos State.

  • 640 sqm per plot
  • 40 hybrid coconut trees per plot
  • Hybrid trees typically produce 60-80 coconuts per tree quarterly at maturity
  • Raw coconuts, husk, coconut water, and coconut meat

2. Processing Layer

Raw coconuts have value, but processed coconuts have much higher value. Processing can multiply value by 3-5 times.

  • Coconut oil for food, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals
  • Coconut flour for gluten-free foods and baking
  • Coconut milk for beverages and packaged foods
  • Virgin coconut oil as a high-value export product

3. Manufacturing Layer

Beyond food, coconuts support multiple industries and can significantly increase profitability.

  • Cosmetics such as skincare, hair products, soaps, and lotions
  • Activated carbon for filtration, purification, and industrial use
  • Coconut fiber for mattresses, ropes, erosion control mats, and soil products

4. Export Layer

Export markets create foreign currency revenue while meeting strong local demand.

  • Coconut oil, flour, water, milk, and sugar
  • Activated carbon and other industrial derivatives
  • Regional and global demand opportunities

Why This Matters

As the ecosystem grows, land value, coconut demand, and processing demand increase, making investor plantations more valuable over time.
